Bosch vs DJI Avinox: which e-MTB motor is right for you?
Two of the most talked-about full-power e-MTB systems in 2026/27 are Bosch (Smart System and Performance Line CX) and DJI Avinox (M1 and the new M2S). Both deliver serious climbing power, but they feel different on the trail, integrate differently with frames, and suit different buying priorities.
Power and torque in the real world
Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 5 delivers up to 85Nm with refined, progressive assistance tuned over years of e-MTB development. DJI Avinox M2S pushes harder — 130Nm standard, 150Nm in Boost, with up to 1300W peak power. Avinox feels more explosive on steep, technical climbs; Bosch tends to feel smoother and more predictable on mixed terrain.
Battery and charging
Bosch offers 750Wh and 800Wh integrated and removable options on many frames, plus range extenders on selected models. Avinox on the Mondraker Zendit uses a fixed 800Wh internal battery with no range extender — simpler integration, lighter-looking lines, but less flexibility for battery swaps. The Zendit XR includes a 12A GaN fast charger; RR and RRS use a 4A standard charger.
Ride modes and tuning
Bosch Smart System offers configurable ride modes via the eBike Flow app with detailed tuning. Avinox provides Eco, Auto, Trail, Turbo, and Boost modes with multi-sensor fusion in Auto mode — assistance adjusts continuously based on riding resistance. Both systems suit all-day trail riding; Avinox Boost is aimed at short bursts on the steepest sections.
Mondraker Zendit — built for Avinox M2S
The Mondraker Zendit range (RR, RRS, XR) is designed from the ground up around the Avinox M2S, not adapted from an analogue frame. Revised ZERO suspension kinematics, proportional chainstays, and mullet geometry make it Mondraker's most capable e-MTB. If you want Avinox, the Zendit is the reference platform.
Which should you choose?
Choose Bosch if you want established dealer support, removable batteries, range extenders, and a familiar assist character. Choose Avinox if you want maximum power and torque, tight frame integration, and are drawn to the Mondraker Zendit's suspension and geometry. Book a demo or get in touch — we stock Mondraker and service e-MTBs in our Bosch-certified workshop.
